Haunted hayride

Haunted Weekend!!

Our Seasonals really did a wonderful job with the decorating and haunting of the camp for our Halloween themed Columbus Day weekend.
They worked hard and the reward was all the screaming kids and adults. Even the over "nighters" got involved, with decorating their sites, themselves, and joined in with the "haunting" as the hay ride passed by.

Here's a copy of an email we got afterwards:
Scott and Kerry,
Just wanted to congratulate you on the BEST haunted hayride ever!!!
To you, and all those gremlins who helped to plan, setup, and provide all those screams and fast beating hearts, your efforts were AWESOME!
The hayride was definitely excellant! And I think we had almost as much fun listening to screaming fellow campers for 2 hours or so and watching all those black-cloaked ghouls gliding thru the darkness.
We appreciate your efforts and the memories you provided!
Linda Cornish and family

We had goblins, witches, ghosts, hangings, electric chairs, and the ever favorite "Chop Shop"
The hay ride started off with a passenger being hauled off by the mad butcher who needed a victim. Really got the adrenaline pumping in all those who dared to ride.

Tah Dah!!

We folks, there ya have it..... the Siding job is complete!!
SRC and John did the rest of the siding themselves. The price quote we got from the guy who did the rest of the house for the remaining side...worked out to like $100.00per hour (after the cost of materials) So SRC being the handy sort of guy that he is, said heck, I can do this...and Did!!!

Now, this book has a nice cover to judge!

We still have to re-shingle the roof, but that has to wait until next year. And the chimney needs to come down, but that is doing it all on it's own. Hopefully no Large chunks come crashing down on the new roof of the office before we get to it.

Beal Island, Maine

Please click on the blue "View Larger Map" for a better view. I can't seem to get rid of that white "thought bubble"

Beal Island is shaped like a
crooked "h". It's about 65 acres and has a trail that circumnavigates
the island.

This is where Handsome Man will be spending his Columbus Day weekend (Fri.- Mon.) with the Boy Scouts, Troop 2
Tonight the boys will be going shopping to purchase all the food they need for the menus they had prepared at last week's meeting.

Needless to say HM is so very excited!

The camp out he went on a few weeks ago, he had a great time, rain not withstanding, and earned his Indian Lore merit badge.

Good Morning!!! Okay, maybe not! (I think SRC would have sold this place on the spot had there been an offer.. he was so mad) Plans were made yesterday, for this morning to be cutting up the big logs into "stove legnth" for our Free wood give-a-way listed on Craig's List.
Well, Murphy had other ideas..... A water Main break. Here's a picture of our faithful seasonal crew rendering assistance putting in a new line!
While all this is going on, I am directing people to the wood pit. Fortunately SRC and John had already cut up a whole pile before hand.
Trucks, and trucks with trailers had started coming in droves. The water line is now fixed and all the guys are down at the work pit, cutting and loading everyone's vehicles. I did just see a truck and trailer leave without any wood. I wonder if they were expecting hardwood?!? The ad clearly states softwood. but, Why else would they not take any? It's not like we were out...there is still plenty of wood. Oh well, not gonna lose sleep over it. (but I swear, people just don't read)
The big plus side to the water main breaking this weekend is we only had a couple of "overnight" campers. Most had either cancelled or rescheduled to next weekend. Thank goodness it didn't happen Columbus Day weekend!!!
Whew!

Tenderfoot

My Handsome Man has joined the Boy Scouts! He is working on the first rank.... Tenderfoot.
Today he leaves on a weekend campout. (Nice, his first one is in the rain. but he is undeterred)
This campout will coincide with the 3rd annual NE Powwow. Tamagua Native Gathering at a recreation area right here in town. The boys will be earning some sort of badge, for this. ( I didn't get to see exactly what) JSC had "homework" to do about this Indian tribe before setting off for this adventure.
He only just joined Wednesday!!! He's pretty excited. I am glad to see that he is involved with scouting again.
He was, we all were, involved in the cub scouts while we were on the Cape. That was an amazing Pack there.
JSC joined cub scouts when we moved up here, but it wasn't really like scouting, SRC said it was more like a daycare. JSC lost interest.
Now that he is boy scout age, he has a renewed interest.
